6 Ways to Make Your Sunroom Shine This Winter

Winter
Keep your sunroom clean and well-maintained, and you’ll enjoy it all winter.

Do you love sunny summer days? If so, bring on the winter! Winter’s the perfect time to enjoy the sunshine and warmth of the summer in your sunroom. A sunroom combines the beauty of the outdoors with the comfort of the indoors. Before winter comes, make sure that your sunroom is ready. These cleanup techniques will ensure that your sunroom is safe, pleasant, and well-maintained and will help keep your sunroom shining all winter long.

1. Scrub It Down

Squeaky-clean windows are much easier to enjoy throughout the winter. Before winter comes, wash the interior and exterior glass of your sunroom with a mild detergent. Avoid strong chemicals that could damage the glass. At the same time, clean the vinyl and the roof panels that sit on top of and between the glass panels of your sunroom. Avoid strong abrasives, but don’t be afraid to use a brush on the roof to remove heavier grime.

Keep your sunroom glass, vinyl, and roofing clean and you’ll let the light in.

2. Clean Your Gutters

Prevent leaking and overflows by making sure that your gutters are clean before the winter comes. Remove debris, and if your gutters are warped or badly damaged, consider a new gutter installation. Add gutter covers and heating to maintain the water flow in your gutters throughout the winter months.

3. Check Your Seals

A sunroom needs to stay warm and dry throughout the winter months. Just as you’d check a roof to ensure that it doesn’t have leaks, check your sunroom’s seals to be sure that they’re not cracked and leaking. The silicone may become discolored over time, and some discoloration is normal.

4. Warm it Up

To use your sunroom in the winter, you may need to add heat. Before the temperatures drop too low, check to make sure all of your sunroom heating systems are working. Add pillows and comfortable blankets to seating areas to lower heating bills and make the room feel cozy.

5. Keep it in Motion

Since sunrooms have windows that may not open and they tend to sit on the outside of the house in an area that’s a dead zone for air movement, you need to make sure that air circulates from the sunroom to the rest of the house and vice versa. Add a fan to your sunroom that moves stale air from the sunroom and helps bring in new air from areas with open windows.

6. Clean it Off

When winter does come, you’ll need to be prepared to keep your sunroom clear of ice and snow. If you get heavy accumulations, consider adding a roof rake to your winter tool shed. This allows you to gently remove snow accumulations from your roof.

I installed GH on the upper gutters in 2006 & have had the wonderful experience of no problems. I installed Leaf Filter on the lower gutters in 2010. Thru time, grit & leaves collect on the gutter screens & semi-annual cleaning is necessary so water doesn’t overrun the screens. I’m replacing LF w/ GH. GH is as advertised - maintenance-free!!

Lednor recently installed a rolling sun shade on my house. The entire process went very smoothly and I would recommend them and their product to anyone. The salesperson was very professional and was able to answer all my questions. The installers were likewise very good. The job was done in about 2-1/2 hours and they did a very good job cleaning up after themselves. The sunshade is wonderful. I can use my patio in the middle of the day now which I hadn't been able to do. I highly recommend them.

I am very satisfied with my gutter helmet installation. They were here when they said they would be. Work was timely completed and looks great. Installers were very nice and cleaned everything up. The house looks great. The best part - I do not have to clean them out.
