The fabric will last from 5 to 15 years: if you’re replacing fabric that has gotten damaged, make sure you choose a sturdier variety next time. You can often replace the fabric without replacing the entire awning; however, make sure that your entire awning is of high quality or you could end up needing to replace other parts after you replace the fabric.

And if you keep your awnings up all winter it’s quite possible that you’ll have a few extra branches on or in them come spring. Heavy snow can weigh on your awnings, and even prolonged rain can damage them, making it easier for them to grow mold. Non-retractable awnings can be high maintenance. They require more cleaning and repairs simply because they are constantly exposed to the weather. Many people add new retractable awnings for this reason.
