Knowing a storm is coming is an unnerving thing. You can do all the right things to prepare your home and family, but some things are out of your control. This time of year brings us hurricane season, and unfortunately, this year is bringing some serious and devastating storms. • See that seals and caulking around doors and windows is in good condition to help keep water out.

After the Storm

• Be careful if you are considering a company that came knocking on your door. Sure, sometimes these are legitimate, but often these may not be the people you would choose if they weren’t right in front of you.
• Check to make sure the company and all employees have insurance, including liability and worker’s comp.
• Get everything in writing, from the beginning to end of the project, including initial quotes and assessments and final receipts of payment.

These hurricanes are not to be taken lightly. They are dangerous, devastating storms causing immense damage. A lot of work is involved in preparing beforehand, staying safe during and repairing damage afterward the storms.
